Stories behind the Poppy Appeal
Kirianne is using the Legion's Independent
Inquest Advice service to help her through the
inquest into her husband's death.
"Wearing my poppy is my time to remember my husband and my
little boy's daddy. I am proud to be involved
in the Poppy Appeal, not just for me, but for all the Armed
Forces widows."

During Tyler's rehabilitation the Legion provided a handy man service to carry out
essential and urgent home adaptations to his Mum's home.
"Changes to my mum's home were essential for me, but also for my
mum when I was home from Headley Court, and I'll never forget that
the Legion got the job done as quickly as possible to make life at
that time easier for me.

story
Following injuries sustained with serving in
Iraq, the Legion stepped in to help Sharon.
"As well as
helping me physically move into my new
place and helping get my compensation increased, the
Legion's staff and volunteers really get how to interact with
ex-military personnel and make a real effort to continue that
communication.
"I needed emotional support once I'd left the Army, and I found
the Legion supported me when no-one else could in quite the same
way."

When Aron's
Disability Living Allowance was reduced due to him earnestly
filling in a form to say 'on a good day he could walk 400 metres',
the Legion intervened and represented him at a Tribunal. The
appeal was successful and his allowance, which pays for a car, was
returned to him.
"The support and advice I've received has been second to none.
Putting on a poppy for me is about remembering the ultimate
sacrifice my mates and others like them made. I'm still here,
I'm getting married, I'm looking ahead - it could've been a lot
worse."
