Poppy People wanted

support-people wanted.jpgWe are looking for people – Poppy People – to join our team of volunteers. You can help in 3 ways:

Poppy Collectors:
Help us to keep our annual Poppy Appeal growing. Without volunteer collectors out there on the streets, without appeal organisers planning the collections, this great cause would grind to a halt. We urgently need to recruit more people as many of our current volunteers are retiring from active duty. Add to this the ever increasing demand on the Legion’s services and you can see we need your help more than ever.

Stand by us and volunteer in London
If you want to help us in London, contact us direct by emailing londonpoppyappeal@britishlegion.org.uk or calling 020 7582 5929. There are lots of ways to help:

Collect for 2 hours | Man our Poppy Centre at St Paul's | Be part of a support squad for one of our events | Volunteer in the office | Join our counting team

Volunteer Caseworkers: Our Caseworkers are the public face of the Legion and a vital link to the serving and ex-Service community in need. As well as helping to answer the many thousands of calls for help the Legion receives, Caseworkers visit people in their homes and identify and assess the need for assistance and eligibility for help. If you would like to become a Caseworker and make a difference to so many lives, we will give you full training.

Hospital and Housebound Visitors: This is one of the oldest of the Legion’s schemes, and encapsulates what our welfare network is all about – people looking out for each other. Sometimes ex-Service men and women who are either housebound or in hospital have no contact with the outside world. So the couple of hours our Visitors spend with them can mean the world.

Will you become a Poppy Person today and help the Poppy keep on growing?

Email: Poppy People (please include your postcode in your email)
or call Legionline on 08457 725 725.

Volunteers will be contacted as soon as possible.  Due to high volumes at this time of the year there may be a short delay in response.
